    Welcome to the Pillar Post

The Diocese of Buffalo’s Road to Renewal initiative is built on six pillars that organize parish life within local “Families of Parishes”.  These pillars are Liturgy, Spiritual Life, Forming Disciples, Outreach/InReach, Stewardship and Administration.

Spiritual Life

The focus of the pillar deepens the spiritual vitality of the Family of Parishes through shared prayer, spiritual formation, devotion, and lived holiness.

The Central Niagara Catholic Family has an active Spiritual Life Pillar.  The Pillar has organized Bible Study, Book Study, Lenten Retreats, Speaker sessions, One Man Plays, Novenas and Stations of the Cross.

The following are also under the Pillar Group: Legion of Mary and Rosary for Peace.

Administrative Pillar

The Administration Pillar looks at the business components of how our parishes operate and looks at creating efficiencies that respond to the challenges of diminishing resources and personnel as we move forward.  Ensuring that the family of parishes operate with transparency, prudent use of resources, shared accountability and effective internal and external communication systems.

The Administration Pillar meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

The Pillar created the Family Logo with help from students at Lockport High School.  Developed  a web site for the family and each parish.and  created the new Family  Bulletin.

Forming Disciples Pillar

The Forming Disciples Pillar is to nurture a culture where lifelong formation — intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral — is embedded into the daily life of every Family of Parishes. This Pillar promotes, catechesis, relationship, evangelization and spiritual growth for all age groups, helping people move from simply knowing about Christ to living in relationship with Him. Faith formation is not a program — it’s a lifelong encounter with Jesus that renews our hearts, homes, and parishes.

The Pillar Committee is made up of at least one representative from the following parish family programs:

Faith Formation Committee. This committee is made up of representatives from each parish, including our Coordinators of Religious Education (CREs), catechists, and clergy.

Adult Faith Formation. Plan and implement year-round opportunities for adult learning and spiritual growth (Bible study, OCIA, ALPHA, retreats, workshops and more…). Supporting and Partnering with the Spirituality Pillar

The Pillar also helps to plan and coordinate:

A Unified Religious Education Framework. Ensuring that there is a shared and coordinated formation curriculum, calendar, and standards for children, youth & adults.

Laity Mentorship and Leadership. Working with other pillars, like the Liturgy Pillar to ensure that ministers and lay leaders receive appropriate training and development (lectors, eucharistic ministers, altar servers, ushers, etc…).

Develop and strengthen an Evangelization withing the family. Collaborate with other Pillars to create a plan to engage parishioners, inactive Catholics and seekers to ensure year round formation programs.

Inreach / Outreach Pillar

Our Mission

The In-reach/Outreach Pillar seeks to bring Christ's love to those within our parish family and to the wider community. Our mission includes assisting those in physical or spiritual need, reaching out to the unchurched and those who have drifted away from the Church, promoting respect for human life, encouraging missionary discipleship, and developing a welcoming and caring parish community.

Our Current Ministries

Across our four parishes, many ministries already put this mission into practice:

Charitable Outreach: Parish and ecumenical food pantries; homeless street ministry providing food, clothing, Bibles, rosaries, and prayer; seasonal food, clothing, and Christmas gift drives.

Respect Life: Coordinated efforts by parish Respect Life representatives, including diaper and baby-clothing drives, prayer services, and educational activities.

Pastoral Care and Inreach: Ministries serving the homebound, assisted-living and nursing-home residents through visits, Holy Communion, and the Rosary; bereavement support; prayer shawls; and other expressions of spiritual care.

Hospitality and Evangelization: Greeters at our churches, parish fellowship events, distribution of spiritual reading materials, and welcoming those interested in the Catholic faith through OCIA.

Spanish-Speaking Community: Monthly Spanish Mass and fellowship, weekly prayer gatherings, and preparation for liturgical participation, helping Spanish-speaking Catholics become more fully engaged in parish life.

Community Partnerships: Inclusive service opportunities for individuals with disabilities and supervised community-service opportunities for those fulfilling court-ordered obligations, providing occasions for service, personal encouragement, and Christian witness.

Our Priorities Moving Forward

We seek to strengthen collaboration among all four parishes while preserving the valuable ministries already established in our communities.

Our priorities include developing a monthly Saturday meal for people experiencing homelessness; exploring additional Spanish-language Masses in collaboration with the Liturgy Pillar; reaching out personally to parishioners, especially those who are homebound, inactive, or affected by parish transitions; and organizing more family-wide service and fellowship activities.

Working together with other CNCF pillars and parish leadership, we hope to build stronger relationships, encourage reconciliation and unity, and help every parishioner experience a genuine sense of belonging.

We Need Your Participation!

We are especially seeking Inreach/Outreach representatives from Wilson and Barker to ensure that all areas of our Catholic Family are represented.

Whether you enjoy welcoming others, visiting the homebound, assisting those in need, or helping organize community projects, your gifts can make a difference.

Together, let us be a Church that not only welcomes those who come, but also reaches out to those who are absent, forgotten, or in need.
