“Prayer changes lives, and miracles do happen.

Divine Mercy Chaplet

Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet is simple.

1. Begin with the Sign of the Cross

2. Opening Prayer: You expired, Jesus, but the source of

life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You! (Repeat three times)

3. On the first 3 small beads: Our Father, Hail Mary,

Apostles Creed

4. On each of the large beads: Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

5. On the 10 small beads in each decade: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

6. After completing all 5 decades: (Repeat three times) - Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

7. Optional closing prayer:

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become

despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

The Rosary

Praying the Rosary

Familiarize yourself and/or your group with

the prayers of the rosary

  • Make the Sign of the Cross.
  • Holding the Crucifix, say the Apostles' Creed.
  • On the first bead, say an Our Father.
  • Say one Hail Mary on each of the next three beads.
  • Say the Glory Be
  • For each of the five decades, announce the Mystery (perhaps followed by a brief reading from Scripture) then say the Our Father.
  • While fingering each of the ten beads of the decade, next say ten Hail Marys while meditating on the Mystery.
  • Then say a Glory Be.
  • (After finishing each decade, some say the following prayer requested by the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima: O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell; lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of your mercy.)
  • After saying the five decades, say the Hail, Holy Queen, followed by this dialogue and prayer:

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.  That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Let us pray: O God, whose Only Begotten Son, by his life, Death, and Resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech thee, that while meditating on these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

(A prayer to St. Joseph may also follow.)

Conclude the Rosary with the Sign of the Cross.

Rosaries are made by our Rosary Team, Blessed by our Priests and housed in the lobbies of the church for FREE.

The Mysteries of the Rosary

Are divided into four groups, each focusing on different moments in the life of Jesus and Mary:

The First Friday Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Involves attending Mass and receiving Holy

Communion on nine consecutive first Fridays of the

month to make reparation for sins and honor Christ's

love. Rooted in 17th-century revelations to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, this practice promises special graces for final repentance.

Requirements for the Nine First Fridays

• Receive Holy Communion: On nine

consecutive first Fridays.

• State of Grace: Confession is highly

recommended, and communion must be received in a state of grace.

• Intent: Offer the communion in reparation for ingratitude and offenses against the Sacred Heart.

• Consecration: Often accompanied by prayers of reparation.

The "Great Promise"Jesus promised St. Margaret Mary that those who complete the nine consecutive First Fridays will receive the grace of final perseverance, meaning they will not die in a state of mortal sin or without receiving the sacraments.

Other Aspects of the Devotion

• Devotion Focus: The devotion centers on consoling Jesus for the coldness and indifference of mankind.

• Acts of Reparation: In addition to Communion, many spend time in adoration, pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart, or make an Act of Reparation.

• The Twelve Promises: The practice is linked to twelve promises given to St. Margaret Mary, including peace in families, comfort in troubles, and blessed homes.

The devotion is a deeply traditional Catholic practice designed to foster a closer relationship with Jesus through acts of love and reparation.

The First Saturday Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Requested by Our Lady of Fatima, involves 5 consecutive months of going to confession, receiving Holy Communion, reciting five decades of the Rosary, and meditating for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary, all with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Key Requirements (Five Consecutive First

Saturdays):

• Confession: Sacrament of Reconciliation within 20 days before or after the first Saturday.

• Holy Communion: Receive within 24 hours of the first Saturday.

• Rosary: Five decades of the Holy Rosary.

• Meditation: 15 minutes of meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary, separate from the recitation.

• Intention: All acts must be done in reparation for the blasphemies and ingratitude against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Origin and PurposeThe devotion was requested by the Virgin Mary to Sister Lúcia of Fatima on December 10, 1925, as a way to "assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation" those who practice it. It specifically addresses the five ways people offend her Immaculate Heart: blasphemies against her Immaculate Conception, Perpetual Virginity, Divine Maternity,

offenses against her holy images, and the neglect to teach children about her.

Notes on Practice

• Confession Flexibility: If one cannot go to confession on the first Saturday, it can be done within eight days.

• Meditation: Can be done anywhere, but is recommended before or after Mass.

• Reparation: The core purpose is to offer consolation to the Heart of Mary, which is "pierced" by the sins of mankind.

The Miraculous Medal Devotion

A Catholic devotion based on the 1830 apparitions of

the Blessed Virgin Mary to Saint Catherine Labouré in

Paris, France. It involves wearing the Blessed Medal

(designed by Mary herself) and praying the "O Mary,

conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse

to thee" prayer, often in conjunction with a novena to

obtain special graces, protection, and intercession.

Key Elements of the Devotion

• The Medal: Represents Mary standing on a globe, crushing a serpent's head, with rays of light streaming from her hands, symbolizing graces. The reverse side features the letter "M" topped by a cross, with the hearts of Jesus and Mary below.

• Wearing the Medal: The Blessed Virgin promised, "All who wear it will receive great graces," particularly when worn around the neck.

• The Prayer: "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee".

• Perpetual Novena: A popular, ongoing devotion held weekly, especially on Mondays or Tuesdays, often in churches.

• Significance: It is known as a symbol of the Immaculate Conception and is associated with conversions, healings, and spiritual protection.

Devotional Practices

• Blessing: The medal should be blessed by a priest.

• Miraculous Medal Novena: A structured, nine-day prayer, or the perpetual weekly novena often held at churches.

• Act of Consecration: A formal prayer dedicating oneself to Mary under this title.

The devotion spread rapidly in the 1830s after the first medals were produced, leading to the name "Miraculous Medal" due to the many favors reported by those wearing it.

Blessed Medals and Devotion are found in the Lobbies of the Church.
